What is a CSA?

CSA stands for “Community Supported Agriculture.” It describes a group of people that have pledged support and money to a
specific farm or farmer at the start of the season, in order to produce their food throughout the season. This awesome way to express your support to local agriculture also includes a relationship with your farmer and their land.

What comes in a share?

With a purchase of our vegetable share you have claim to a percentage of the harvest from our plots. This is separated into weekly portions, and is a variety of about four to eight different vegetables throughout the season.

You can find more details and our new additions; flowers, herbs, and honey HERE

Who should buy a CSA share?

There is not just one type of person that should buy a CSA share. The people who benefit from a vegetable share like to cook, are interested in trying new things, like eating seasonally, will be in town for most of the summer, and are excited to support their local food system! If you are unsure about what type of CSA share is right for you, contact us for help!

Where do I pick up my share?

There are two pickup locations; one in Fairfax/Fair Oaks, and the other in Springfield. Shares are available for pick up Thursday evenings.

What if I cannot pick up my share that week?

You can appoint a substitute to pick up your share, such as a friend, neighbor, coworker, or family member. If no one is available to pick up for you, your share will be donated to one of many amazing local food banks.

There are 5 people in my family, how many shares should I purchase?

Our full vegetable share is enough produce for 2 people per week. You have the option to purchase two of these and supplement your veggies for the week, or three and have some leftovers! If you have any special circumstances, do not hesitate to contact us with your questions.

I want to learn more about self-reliance and agriculture.

That's great! We have volunteer opportunities throughout the year, and several workshops being created now. Check out our Events page for more information.
